The purpose of writing this topic is that, because there was no such information available to me at the time I needed it, I hope it may help someone who needs to know about it and are somewhat lazy to keep mailing or may be even shy to ask the authorities each and every detail.
Ok! So what this actually is for those who didn't actually want to land here while searching, this is a Hostel built by Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. in Trivandrum, Kerala for the new recruits who come for their Initial Learning Program (ILP) in Trivandrum.
Coming to the main point, this is one of the best hostels they have, and nearer to Peepul Park if your ILP is being held there.
- Rooms are well furnished with basic provisions like Bedding, Bedsheet, Pillow (with cover), bucket, mug etc and are spacious enough with windows to let some air in. Moreover your bedsheets, towels are replaced twice a week at least. The bathroom is attached for each room (accommodating two persons) with a working shower.
- Power backup is available.
- A provisional store is there near the hostel entrance which carries everything, yes I mean everything, that you my need during your stay there, including Tata Docomo cellphone connection at special rates.
- A small documentation shop cum cyber cafe is also there.
- Though I had rare meals in the mess, but yes if you are a fan of southern dishes you may appreciate it, as I was not much into liking it.
- Near the mess you can find TV room along with the Table Tennis and carrom-board table.
- A laundry man visits every other day so you need not worry for your clothes.
- Elevator is there in case you were unlucky to get a room on top floor i.e. 4th I guess.
- If you are subscribed to the Bus service, then it visits the Hostel gate to pick you up.
- There is a temple just opposite to the Hostel if you are interested.
- In case you are not liking the food much, just need to exit the hostel gate, move to the right on the street, or better take an auto-rickshaw to reach the Kazhakottam junction, where you can witness a good enough market to buy stuff for yourself. (This is around 2-3 kms from Hostel). On the way you will come across the Technopark Campus entrance where you can hang out for Subway, Baskin Robbins etc. along with Ojus Hospital (in case) and SBI Bank ATM. Some distance before the Kazhakottam junction there is a Punjabi Dhabha on right side of road if you prefer that. Apart from this some 'above 18' can spot their favorite place on left side of road. ;-)
May be you didn't require these many details but I wished to have read this before coming to Trivandrum for ILP but couldn't really gather much information.

Hello, there were two shifts at the time I was there, you can hope for the same.
DeleteWeekends used to be free, so feel free to hang out(Saturday you may have working sometimes).
They have timings for entering and exiting the hostel, apart from that they hardly care what you do, but being part of a big organisation you may appreciate following the norms. =)
hi. i have my ilp in dec in trvndrum. i wanted to ask that i have heard there are two hostels. and if we get the inside hostel we dont get to take our eatables there? like snacks that i want to keep in my room? is that true.? and is this not the case witth the outside hostel? i relly need some food. cant run all the time to mess wen i feel a little hungry. as i suffer from migraine i need to keep eating in regular intervals. snacks will do. but will i be not able to take them in the hostel? please advise what should i do? and which hostel is better? and do we have a choice in taking the hostel? please help.

DeleteI am not sure about the mess in other hostels, but there is one in Executive Hostel, and usually girls are provided with that hostel. So, if that is the case, you need not worry.
Anyways, you can always keep whatever snacks you want with you, that is not a restriction, and TCS is always co-operative in genuine cases.
And you don't have choice in hostels, that arrangement is prefixed, but I guess that the room partners are decided on first-come-first-serve basis, as was the case with usv

DeleteI have really no idea about the e-stamps. But in any case you can contact on TCS's ILP helpline number, they will guide you for sure!
About Service Agreement...
DeleteTCS Guys are aware of the fact that now-a-days e-stamps are available. So, go for it without any worry. but please make sure that while purchasing the e-stamps(just tell these points to the person who issue you Stamp paper), that
1) First Party should be TCS
2) Second party is you
3) Stamp paper must be purchased in your name.
First 3 Lines of Service Agreement should be printed/Typed on the First page of e-Stamp, other pages can be printed/Typed on A4/Legal/Bond Paper. All the blanks must be filled with PEN and it must not be printed/Typed.
You should not Notarize Service Agreement.
About NCA..
Stamp paper for NCA must be purchased in your name (For Rs100/-). There is no need to print anything on first page of e-stamp of NCA. Just take print-out of NCA content on A4/Legal/Bond Paper and attach it with NCA e-stamp.
After filling NCA with PEN, it should be notarized with PublicNotary/Advocate with their Seal and Sign.

I had used my Airtel 2G as well as 3G data plans (in roaming) and a Tata Docomo Photon Plus Dongle (bought from there) for internet services which worked absolutely fine. Other national ISPs shall work too. And it is not difficult to get a connection there, I bought one Tata Docomo from the shop inside the hostel, they only need your TCS ID card as a proof. (In an extreme case someone may ask for an address proof for a connection, for which you can get a bonafide on company's letter head as an address proof, but this would hardly be a case.)

No. It was for both girls and boys at that time (July 2012).
DeleteI was in Executive Hostel. But boys were only given top floor rooms, and other floors had girls only I guess (didn't really verify).

ReplyDeleteI taken e stamp for NCA and got it notarized ,notary seal is present in all pages and only he signed his initial in first 2 pages and his full sign and date in last page is that correct or he has to sign in all pages and one more doubt we need to attach any notary stamp for NCA
I don't think it would be an issue with regard to sign. Rest you can confirm by calling on TCS helpline number. They usually respond to all such queries with ease.

DeleteFrom Executive Hostel/Technopark Campus, if you head straight towards Kazhakkoottam junction in north on the highway, you will find the hotels/lodges. I don't have any opinion about any of those, please check.

ReplyDeleteNo, there is no compulsion. Get the room allocated and let the hostel authority know that you are staying outside for 2 days with parents (let your parents acknowledge that to the hostel authorities so that there are no complications). Join in the hostel after that.

My stay was little short to have asked or tried or seen anyone doing that. They have a dining area at ground floor where meals are served, but I doubt if you can cook something there. They might lend you that service on request, people are co-operative there.

That should be sufficient. Just to avoid any issues, you can take some other proof with you.

TCS provides you accommodation when you are given the joining location after ILP sufficient enough for finding a PG/Flat at that place.
DeleteIf your question is regarding period prior to ILP joining then TCS won't, I myself stayed in a hotel as I arrived 2 days earlier. You can give a try sending them an email if they can arrange for something.

They do not charge for hostel stay. The food is payable on meal basis which also means that you may avoid the meals in hostel and eat anywhere as you will.

We were allotted rooms on first come first serve basis. So my room-mate was decided on the basis of who came immediately after/before me.
DeleteTry getting there at same time and request them to give them the same room, should work.
(Just an advice you are free to ignore: You will make more friends and know more people if you don't stick to your plan. This is also something TCS would want and for that reason they would make random room allotment.)

DeleteIts been 3 years now so you might like to confirm my answers.
1) I don't think they will allow cooking inside your rooms, so better not to carry.
2) Carrying utensils from the mess might be an issue, packed food not a problem.
3) No idea, was there in July.
4) Am not a fan of south Indian food, so I didn't like it. But you will get some good options outside nearby.

I am asking this bcoz i have heard that MAINFRAME is a bit hectic compared to others..Is it true?
ReplyDeleteIrrespective of the stream, the ILP is usually hectic and it would be a little hard to find 5 hours on daily basis I guess. But 3 hours might be a decent goal. Do spare some time to hang out too. Good luck!

ReplyDeleteIt used to be 3 moths for ILP and I guess your allocation depends on your ILP performance, projects vacancies, matching skill set and your RMG. There is no gap between training and posting. You will be allocated to a city, though project allocation might take some time.

ReplyDeleteTCS usually considers your skill set, your performance and project requirements for project allocation. You can ask for a transfer or relocation later though after an year or two.

DeleteI am an employee of tcs who faced torture in scarlett hostel .hostel accomodation of scarlett hostel is good but hostel administration is very poor,misbehave with tcs employees.They even get into physical fights with trainees of tcs.If you have any problem regarding the place or facilities provided they start to shout on employees without understanding the problem and do not consider it seriously.Babu the caretaker of hostel and his servant are the main villain and culprit of all the problems so if anyone of you go there be prepared to live in trouble because of the caretaker inspite having lovely accomodation. They only make rule that you are not allowed to drink,smoke or late night parties but if someone complaints of these things happening they start to shout on the person trying to suppress you and take no action against them.other accomodation sri vinayaka is fine.I am telling you all this because i and my friend had faced all these problems in scarlett acomodation and even my friends training got extended due to all these problems and one of my friend got discontinued due to this problem due to mental pressure and torture he faced in scarlett hostel accomodation whereas no such problem in sri vinayaka accomodation. so guys be careful while finalising your accomodation ask for sri vinayaka and if you get scarlett ask for sri vinayaka otherwise be ready to face hell in heaven place and face mental torture and be ready to extend your training thus risking your future.I am an employee of tcs but can't disclose myself due to fear of losing the job.also office administration is very late in taking action against complaints regarding hostel administration sometimes u face lot of problem due to hostel administration and they dont take disciplinary action so guys be careful
DeleteThis looks like a very biased review on Scarlet as from the feedback received, Scarlet is one of the best TCS accommodation available at Trivandrum. It is evident from the description of events that the reviewer has entered into some tiff with Mr Babu or he may have been caught drinking in the premises, as Scarlet has a zero tolerance policy against drinking within premises.
DeleteScarlet has one of the best problem redressal systems among the TCS accommodation. The very fact that around 1000 ILP associates stay in this huge Complex is a testimony to the facilities and comfort that Scarlet provides.

ReplyDeleteI am an employee of tcs who faced torture in scarlett hostel .hostel accomodation of scarlett hostel is good but hostel administration is very poor,misbehave with tcs employees.They even get into physical fights with trainees of tcs.If you have any problem regarding the place or facilities provided they start to shout on employees without understanding the problem and do not consider it seriously.Babu the caretaker of hostel and his servant are the main villain and culprit of all the problems so if anyone of you go there be prepared to live in trouble because of the caretaker inspite having lovely accomodation. They only make rule that you are not allowed to drink,smoke or late night parties but if someone complaints of these things happening they start to shout on the person trying to suppress you and take no action against them.other accomodation sri vinayaka is fine.I am telling you all this because i and my friend had faced all these problems in scarlett acomodation and even my friends training got extended due to all these problems and one of my friend got discontinued due to this problem due to mental pressure and torture he faced in scarlett hostel accomodation whereas no such problem in sri vinayaka accomodation. so guys be careful while finalising your accomodation ask for sri vinayaka and if you get scarlett ask for sri vinayaka otherwise be ready to face hell in heaven place and face mental torture and be ready to extend your training thus risking your future.I am an employee of tcs but can't disclose myself due to fear of losing the job

ReplyDeleteThey will not allow parents to stay in the hostel. You will have to get a hotel/motel for yourself. Hotel Ginger is nearby and there are many others nearby. ReplyDeleteJust drop them an email and confirm that it is ok to arrive 3 days in advance. I myself went two days before the joining date and it was fine by them.

Sorry for late reply. They usually provide rooms on first cum first serve basis. Sharing room with your friend will have better chances if you reach there together.

1. I have bought stamp paper on my name but in the purpose/for field the advocate has written " agt "(agreement)instead of non criminal and gap affidavit respectively.Would it be a problem ?
2.secondly i am turning 24 on 12th September but my joining is on 5th of September what should in I write in the age field (23 yrs or 24 yrs)?
I can't say about the first question.
DeleteFor the second one, the age should be 23 years in your documents generated before 12th September. Your birth date would be the useful information in most of the cases though.

ReplyDeleteAll of my batchmates from my college got their joining letter today except me. they are been posted to trivandrum from 12 jan 2017. Is there possibilities that I will be getting my joining letter within 1-2 days or will be posted to a different location and will have to wait for some more time ?
ReplyDeletePlease directly contact TCS HR, they will be able to help you better with your query. You can also connect with the HR who mailed joining letters to your friends, at least that HR will confirm that you may not join in Trivandrum (in case).

Hi. My friend is currently undergoing her ILP & has got accommodation at the Kenton leisure executive hostel. I wanted to send a gift to her, will the hostel authority allow the courier guy to deliver it at the hostel? And will the hostel authority keep it for her incase she is not present when the courier arrives. Also, I don't have the full address of this place. Please advise asap. Thank you.

ReplyDeleteI am sorry, I don't remember clearly about the blanket but they do provide mattress, bed-sheets, pillows (with cover). I would suggest carrying a blanket as also suggested here (http://nileshsamgir01.blogspot.com.au/).

ReplyDeleteIs it necessary to stay in the hotel provided by TCS or I can live by my own on rent? As I have a medical issue and cannot eat outside food so I have to cook by myself or hire a cook.
Or any other suggestion you would like to suggest.
